My old i3 ASUS is getting slow and the battery is dying, and this seems like a good price. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

ATIV Books aren't bad. For Word Processing/Powerpointing/Watching Movies and TV/Web Surfing use it shouldn't be bad. Obviously don't think you'll be gaming on it at any serious level.

Ugh, fuck 15.6" and 1366x768 resolution.

Also that lower end i5 won't offer much of a performance bump over your i3. It'll be faster, but you won't notice it that much.

The part I will be able to notice, however, is how I won't have to rubber band the fucker down to get it to charge.

Eh, I have no problem with it currently.

It is abysmal. Try using a laptop with 1600x900 or 1920x1080 and you'll realize what shit 1366x768 is. Especially on larger sized laptops. Enjoy your pixels the size of fists.

Have you tried purchasing a new battery?
Also, what do you mean by slow? haha
It's a good price if it meets your usage requirements.

Depends on the type of i5. Some i5's were just bumped up i3s, but in the 3rd gen, a lot of laptop i5s were just underclocked i7s. They were all sold for about the same price, the smaller ones being used where battery performance meant more.

No. Because it took me literally 3 minutes to find this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc…
Which is better in every way and new . I'm sure there are even better ones on Newegg.

Last night with IGP, the fan was running at full speed, and I only have 3GB of ram. That, and I have to have a rubber band wrapped around it to use it, due to a shitty charge port design. And a new battery is $80.

Check the link I sent you. 8GB ram, one of the mid-range i5 3rd gen processors, and generally superior performance all around.
Also, your issue with the fan can be solved by checking CPU temps and adjusting fan settings in the bios. If it doesn't really need to be on, you can manually turn it off there.

My fan runs pretty fast during the race as well. Fortunately I've got 8gb, but this laptop is 2 years old now. Battery is still pretty good.

I don't get why we changed to 16:9 on laptops, I really don't, 16:10 was fine. I have a 768px 12"screen, doesn't sound too bad coming from a 1280x800 12", but somehow it really is.

I think it's a good price, I'm getting a used thinkpad x220 for the same price, if you don't mind the 90's look is a great laptop, check it out.

what will you be doing with it? how portable do you need it? will you be lugging it all over the place? gaming? graphics? if you plan on only watching/streaming movies/tv shows you don't need the i5 or even i3. Honestly the modern 4 core atom is shockingly capable, VERY close to performance of the low current i3/i5 Y found in the tablets. and will last forever on a ccharge. 8-9 hours, however the high current i3/i5 U(surface pro3) will crush it...but that's if you wish to play games and compile ISO files.

I want to use it for internet, media, and Skyrim, don't really care about portability, as
I have a good backpack. Battery is kind of important to me, because the power connector jack on my ASUS failed, and I have to rubber band the charger to the laptop to get it to charge.

half of these are cheaper then your used laptop so id look into this since youll have a warranty with this and none with that used one. However - it being a samsung ( i have the same model mysefl actually) its pretty reliable. Ive had mine 2.5 yrs and its still flying. I used it for school, work and a shit ton of media manipulation.
